Poor little blog.

My blog has been sadly neglected lately...I have been spending much more time on Facebook than I care to mention. I have so much to update - for starters...my header pic - since I am now the mother of a SIX-year-old!

WOW.
Six years.

So anywho...I just had to share a funny Super B story with you...

Last week, Super B and I were making smoothies. Some of our best conversations happen in the kitchen. As demonstrated by the conversation below:

B - "Mom....there's this girl at my Nana's church that says she's a vampire."

T - "Oh really? That's strange. What exactly did she say?"

B - "Well...she came up to me after Sunday School and started sayin' all this crazy stuff about how she's a vampire and that she drinks her own blood and stuff."

T - "Well...did you tell her that there's no such thing as vampires and that what she does is just gross?"

B - "No...I just told her 'Whatever.'........reckon' why she said all that stuff to me?"

T - "Maybe she thought that would make her seem cool."

B - "No...I actually think she said that so I would want to be her boyfriend. I did look handsome that day."

Happy 6th Birthday

Six years ago, at 3:08 a.m., you entered this world with a tiny cry.

That tiny cry changed the world.

Since then, you have grown into a handsome blonde-haired little man.

You laugh in the face of adversity.
You are determined to overcome every obstacle.
With one green eye and one blue..you view each day as an opportunity for adventure.
You treat all those around you with compassion.
Your heart is as big as the moon.
You transform the average into spectacular with your amazing creativity.

You always hold me accountable..that makes me a better person.
You help me see that nothing is impossible with a little courage.
Your endless energy and enormous imagination keeps me young.

I know that the next six years will fly by even more quickly.
I will treasure each moment and thank our Heavenly Father for blessing me:
With YOU.

Happy Birthday to my darling sweet boy.

Somebody's Hero

With Mother's Day just around the corner, I can't help but reflect on my Mom.
Sweet Norma Jean.

Growing up, I thought my Mom was over-protective and smothering. I disagreed with many of the ways she chose to raise me and teach me. I felt like she didn't "get it." As a teenager, I rebelled against most everything she tried to instill in me.

Then one day...I became a Mom.
And I got it. I got her.
I understood what it felt like...how she felt about me.
How she cherished me.
How she did the best she could with what she had.

I may not agree with some of the things she did.
But one thing I know is this:
She did it all out of LOVE.
Unconditional love.

A love that cannot be broken by time or distance.
When she looks at me she still sees that little girl with blonde curls who always went against the grain. She still remembers my first words and my first achievements. She remembers my skinned knees and heartbreaks.

She hurts and cries for me when I confide in her that I don't feel like I'm a good Mom sometimes. When I share with her what I feel like are my failures and my weaknesses in raising my son.

She gets it.

You did a great job, Mom.
I LOVE YOU.

To all the Moms out there who are trying their best to raise their little ones.
To all the women who dream of one day being a Mom.
To all of you who are daughters of great women.
To all of you who are daughters of Moms who did their best.

Happy Mother's Day.

Early Birthday Gift

As much as we tried, Super Dad and I couldn't wait any longer to give Super B his birthday gift. So we went ahead and gave it to him on Saturday.

To say he was thrilled would be the understatement of the century. He screamed, squealed, and cheered for minutes as he ran inside to change into his riding clothes.

Now, I know that everyone is probably thinking that we've lost our minds. That's the response I've received from everyone so far. Not that I have to explain our decision, but we're a family of dirt bike and atv riders and that's just what we do. We're certainly not going to just turn him loose on it without giving him proper safety training.

His Dad told him upfront: "If you don't respect the power of it, you won't ride it. Period."

In pure Super B style - he jumps on the thing for the first time and hauls butt. And just as with his first ride on the atv, he quickly ate some dirt. In fact, he crashed twice in less than ten minutes. Since then, he's been taking it slow and steady.

Once he becomes an experienced rider, we're going to dive into the world of Motocross racing. He has his heart set on doing it - so we're going to give it a shot. He's just not into traditional sports at this age, and although that may change as he gets older, we want to get him involved in something competitive now that will motivate him to work hard and teach persistance in striving towards a goal.

As an added bonus, Super Dad is getting his daily dose of cardio as he jogs along-side Super B on his bike - making countless circles - over and over again around the yard. I am content to watch the excitement from the comfort of my porch swing...preferably while eating Krispy Kreme doughnuts.

A short clip of Super B riding yesterday.
Taken with my phone, sorry for the quality.
I didn't want to get doughnut glaze all over my good camcorder.

Say hello to my little friend...

We have a new pet in the Super Household:

Say hello to...Mr. Creepy.

Honestly, I don't think he's Creepy.

In fact, I think he's quite lovely.
